  By the total number of edits made, CoMaps was the 15th most used #OpenStreetMap editor in June. At first glance, that might not sound like a lot, but: With that, we are the #1 OSM editor that is not mainly an editor but a fully fledged map & navigation app and also editor! From the start we have said that we want CoMaps to be a good citizen of the larger OSM ecosystem and make sure that we and our users contribute back. And it looks like you're all making good on that!

  For the folks who get CoMaps from the Google Play store: The review process took "a bit" longer this time around - but version 2026.05.06 is finally out. Give the "Check for update" button in the map downloader a go to get the map files with OSM data from May 10!

  Release 2026.05.06 is out on Codeberg, F-Droid, iOS, and soon on Google Play and brings a big new feature: From this version onward, updating the map files of CoMaps is no longer tied to updating the app. Which means we can bring you fresh #openstreetMap based maps more often!   Our latest version, 2026.01.08, is available in all release channels! Updates include more visual refreshes on Android (moving to Material 3) and an expanded #OpenStreetMap editor.   To allow all of our users to download offline maps reliably and quickly, we need servers in many different locations. Some of these servers are rented, thanks to the donations we get. But some of them are also hardware donations, where we are allowed to use otherwise underused hardware! A big thanks go to Mathias Klein as well as the French OpenStreetMap chapter @osm_fr, who provide us with server capacities in Germany and France respectively!

  Did you already find any Christmas trees in CoMaps? During the Christmas season, the app displays public Christmas trees that are mapped in #OpenStreetMap (in maps from version 2025.11.19 onwards).
