One thing about having a foster dog who’s skittish about men and having trans family and friends is learning that dogs don’t misgender people.

Our latest foster dog, who we initially thought would be hard to get adopted, is off to her new home in Tumbler Ridge today. She’s still skittish and needs to work on her recall but we now know she’s very trainable and very sweet.

Thinking about being useful and repairing the hole in the drywall created when my partner went to install a dog gate (technically baby gate) in backwards.

Trump seems bound and determined to hand the world to China on a platter of ill advised destruction. Presuming of course there’s a world left to dominate. #USPol #China #WorldPol

Prepping to make ramen tonight with the Tonkotsu broth I made over the weekend. My partner had to run out to get more mirin though. #Food

In an era when tech bros are ruining everything it's good to remember that before 1980s marketing attempted to drive women out of computing they pioneered it. #InternationalWomensDay #computing #computerscience #computerhistory https://www.gracehopper.com/blog/15-remarkable-women-programmers-who-transformed-the-tech-world https://allthatsinteresting.com/margaret-hamilton https://web.archive.org/web/20191130180008/https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/13/magazine/women-coding-computer-pro...

@evan@cosocial.ca Yes but it depends on what is meant by “wartime”. If your country is at war and the public live in constant threat because they are under invasion and attack, then yes, maintaining morale is a high priority. If your country is at war with some other country that is absolutely no threat to your country and there is not a threat to the public, then morale should not be a media priority.

@SnowyCA@social.vivaldi.net I chose option 1 and my doctor is a woman. I’m happy she has kept me on as in the years since she became my GP she has specialized more on women’s health. @CStamp@mastodon.social

@ottaross@mastodon.social A few years back we had what was supposed to be a couple hour layover in NYC but we landed in a snowstorm and our flight home was cancelled. That night we went into Manhattan which was a bit of a ghost town for NYC and explored. In the morning we did a little exploration of Central Park in the snow as well as stop at the Natural History Museum before we headed to the airport for our rescheduled flight. It’s a nice little unexpected memory.

@greem@cyberplace.social @Tattooed_Mummy@beige.party You’d be surprised. The Discord for the EVE-Online corp I’m in has plenty of us old timers. To the point there are sadly common memorial gatherings. :/

@AmeliasBrain@mstdn.ca Happy Day! Hope you can get the sleep thing straightened out. I was doing badly on it a couple years ago but found some strategies that helped my situation a bit.

@drmaddkap@meow.social Came in not committed one way or another. Watched the first three and I would say it's good and I like it but I wouldn't go further than that. It's following the relatively standard teen drama tropes but in a Star Trek setting. Characters are interesting with some fun variations and interactions. To its credit it's avoided the emo-trek vibe and monologuing of Discovery. There may be room for it to become a great show but it's not there yet.

@BenAtkinsonPhD@econtwitter.net It sounds like a case of bad timing on the wrestlers part. It feels like barring him is a bit much. I will note that this wouldn’t have happened at LovePro Wrestling as they have a hard “No Nazi Shit” policy in and out of the ring.

I like that our organization stopped doing Christmas parties and switched to doing a Staff Appreciation Party in the first quarter of the year. Feels more inclusive and the timing is better. December is already too full but in late January it's nice to have an event. And now off to the party!
