@ellenor2000 I only understand enough to know anarchists use a lot of spherical cows and hand-waving. Not systems thinkers, I’ve found. And get mad when they’re called on it.

@anamardoll They are such perfect bundles of joy. Even the frozen ones, which are kind of the Domino’s of pierogi, are really good. But you, lucky things, have fresh ones nearby. Also, hey, you. Glad to see you.

#Caturday (late) #Cats Finally got JingleCat with a blep. She does it all the time, but she also knows what the camera means. She’s helping me erase an old Mac.

The “cilantro is soapy or not” argument is well past its sell-by date now, but that nobody’s picked up the “carrots are soapy, change my mind” discourse is a little shocking.

@seanb OH NO! Glad you (collectively) caught it!

Ah. So, doctor’s appointments don’t have copays anymore, we just go straight to deductible and nothing’s covered before $12K on top of the $970,000,368.48x10 ¹⁶ coming out of a paycheck every two weeks? These are the days when I don’t love ACA (or more precisely, when I don’t love what insurers have done since ACA tried to make them behave a little less like the Torturer’s New Gig).

@maco Yeah, we’re not a high deductible plan, I checked my documents. This is just the new (other) medical monopoly screwing up in advance of my very first appointment with them. My confidence is dwindling. HSAs were invented when we were already mid-career and reaching the age where we were using our coverage, so the chances of *anything* rolling over was small enough that the risk was far greater than the potential reward. 10 years earlier, I probably would have taken that bet.

@maco it’s $12K for the family, or $4000 each, but we are a family of 2, so it’s $12K. We’ve never reached that yet, and should we ever reach it, I will go to war over that $4K, but that’s some sneaky, nasty pro-natalism in the documents.

@yoboseiyo@artisan.chat So much. Other people may declare their March on Versailles for other corps, but mine will be the insurance companies. The blue one first.

@AGTMADCAT @catbailey I don’t have a lot of faith in etsy, but simple raglan sleeve chemises are cheap and fast to construct, and generally nicely flexible in size. Also handkerchief drawstring/elastic skirts.

@kimlockhartga I’m willing to let golf live if they mandate only wild, native landscapes, one club, and lots of booze, the way Mary Stuart intended. Same with Nascar if it goes back to its drug running roots and reconfigures as a multi-day rally. Fishing needs to become about raising nymphs for stocking fragile ecosystems and net catching for health checks. Cornhole at least has the advantage of being low environmental impact, so it can stay. Needs a better name.
