RE: https://mstdn.social/@hkrn/117043406553802504 Oh, God. This is so on the nose I'm almost nauseous. If you only read one "this is how AI is fucking everything up" article make it this one. This is my day to day now.

Had a weird problem the last few weeks where my Xbox Series X controller shows up as *two* controllers on the Steam Deck, so every button I press counts as a double -tap. Internet said to update the firmware to begin with and... there's really no way to update the firmware in those controllers other than using an Xbox or a Windows PC? :-(

Oh, hi @robdaemon - long time no see! Hope you're well!

Dug the Xbox out, had to update the damn thing(!), updated the controller firmware and... No change. Steam Deck still sees it as two controllers. Anyone got any ideas? The internet seems to be full of pages telling me to turn off options that don't exist - surmising they're all AI slop.

Anyone recommend a 10" Android tablet with plenty of RAM and not slow as shit for not much money? Mine's running on steam despite me only really using it to read comics and old magazines.

My company is now pursuing a fully-agentic AI workflow. AI decides what features we need, how they should work, specs them, codes them, tests them, documents them, builds and releases them, and does the marketing and sales pitches and communications in order to sell them. At every step, professional people with actual.skills are being told they are not required for anything other than babysitting the AI. I wonder how many employees will actually remain in a year's time? Or customers, tbf.

Question: is the "Life is Strange Remastered" collection better than the original release? Or did they find a way to ruin it?

I have been outside. It was too hot. Didn't like it. Came back inside to hide until the winter.

Crap, that's me with dozens of 7-Zip installations to update on Monday, then. :-(

Had a very loud punk afternoon - Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Misfits, and X-Ray Spex. My neighbours probably love me. :-D

This new Speccy demo plays a tune that sounds like multi-channel tracker music using only the beeper. It's absolutely incredible! https://youtu.be/98PJFIIJDiA?si=G-QntJEEqaB3ERBe

Happy 44th birthday to the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, the little machine that changed my entire life, and is still a big part of it to this very day. :-)

Okay, this is a brilliant site. Chiptunes on demand, lightweight DOS-like interface. Two thumbs up! https://chiptune.app/browse

Darklight and Offence won the 4K category at Revision '26 with this frankly staggering piece of ZX Spectrum technical wizardry. That's a 3.54mhz Z80 there, remember! Incredible stuff! https://youtu.be/J7PLG9XZ_oY?si=z-8u_r6I69rdNdeX

Reading through Crash issue 4 from May 1984 and i'd forgotten just how blatantly Software Projects went out of their way to frame the CRITICAL BUG in their latest smash hit game as a 'feature to make the game harder'. Despite never mentioning it until now. The advert from last month now features "no, it's not broken, you're doing it wrong!" text, and there's an article in the news section saying pretty much exactly the same thing.
