What's Surviving the Heatwaves? Nature is struggling in the heat, but some plants are faring better than others. I'm recording the species that will become increasingly important if this is to be the new norm. To start - Wild Marjoram, Greater Knapweed, Common Restharrow, Dwarf Thistle #Nature #WildflowerHour #Wildlife #ClimateChange

My #Robin fledgling friend, Crisps, is growing up fast. They went exploring and I didn't see them for 48 hours, but came back. Soon the little terror will need to find a permanent home. #Nature #Wildlife #Bird

My #Robin friend Henry, eating his breakfast this morning. He has just started his summer moult and has stopped singing and chatting, spending most of his time hidden in his favourite Holly bush. He still comes out for some food though, and to chase off his cheeky neighbour. #Nature #Wildlife #Bird

Hybrid of Violet and Broad-leaved Helleborine (Epipactis × schulzei). This is the only one of its kind to have flowered in North Somerset this year. It's looking much healthier than last year, when it only produced two very small and sickly-looking flowers. I'll hopefully be back soon to see the Violet Helleborines at this site, which were on the verge of flowering on my last visit. #Nature #Wildlife #Orchid #Wildflower #WildflowerHour #Bloomscrolling #WildlifePhotography #Nature...

Phasia hemiptera (male), an endoparasitic tachinid fly on a Wild Carrot flower. The hosts of this species are usually Green and Forest Shieldbugs. Until this year, I haven't seen one in Bath since 2008! #Nature #Wildlife #Insect #Fly #Diptera #NaturePhotography #WildlifePhotography

Woodpigeon taking a bath in a pond. Ponds are a lifeline for wildlife in hot weather like we have here in the UK right now. If you have a garden please consider making one. If not, leave a dish of water out on a balcony or window ledge #Nature #Wildlife #Birds #NaturePhotography #WildlifePhotography

This is Chips, my latest Robin friend. She's Henry's neighbour. A few weeks ago, she lost her mate & had a nest full of chicks. So I helped her out, bringing food several times a day. 3 chicks fledged, but two of them disappeared shortly afterwards. However, one chick has survived, and seems to be doing well. Until recently, I had barely seen it, but Chips now feels comfortable enough with me to bring her little one a bit closer. #Nature #Wildlife #Birds #NaturePhotography #BirdPhoto...

I caught my #Robin friend Henry sunbathing yesterday. There is a particular spot he likes to do this in. Sunbathing helps oil to spread across the feathers and helps to drive out parasites. #Nature #Wildlife #Bird #BirdPhotography #WildlifePhotography #NaturePhotography
