My interpretation of dragons has always been that they're more naturally emotional than humans. This makes them more naturally empathetic and outright gentler as a baseline, but horrifying in their rage. A friend expressed a similar interpretation so I'm curious if this is a a more widespread notion.

Nothing is more beautiful to me than the thought of a dragon devoting itself to protecting the world. The thought of such frightful power being used exclusively for noble ends is enough to make me emotional. Whether seen with admiration by humans or unfairly smeared, few narrative concepts occupy my headspace as much as this.
