  Imo there is also an issue of discoverability. You can’t really search for just r/memes but also need to be aware of the multiple different instances and their own rules on top.

  There is a degree of anount. I’d say my Reddit subs are similarly set up to my Lemmy communities. My feed is 80% (US) politics or (F)OSS politics even on stuff that is neither of them in the first place. Reddit on the other hand was more like 20% potentially political, 75% random stuff like memes or niche sub posts and 5% political/story time subs. Sadly the reddit feed became almost unusable. The r/sysadmin feed is atrocious.

  False sense of security. The moment to fuck up certificate issuing and don’t use a wildcard certificate, the subdomain is public and will be probed to hell and back. And due to regex, probably by bots specialized to probe password vaults. Wish you best of luck and security. But I’ll stay here :)

  Not denying it. But I had some leaks which is why I started to reuse a plastic bag to catch any small leaks but it’s a thing to keep in mind. (Same with tea in a insulated bottle. Due to expanding air in the bottle it creates enough pressure to break the seal in rare cases)
