  I’m gonna be super honest about something for a minute here. I’m so fickign sick of these disingenuous outrage performers all over social media who always have to chime in with a “OH but you don’t care when this happens to _______ people”YES I FUCKING DO. EVERY time I hear about ANYONE suffering and dying in terror and parents losing children and children orphaned and trauma inflicted, EVERY time it roundhouse kicks me in the fucking guts. I seriously cannot handle knowing that any of this 1/?

  Having fun with Katakana! Normally we get it once we say it fast. Once in a while it actually spells a German word and I get to be useful because I know a LITTLE German. Hilarity ensues as my son squints and says, “Well, it’s #Katakana, but it’s not any word I know...A-ru-ba-i-to?” and I laugh and say, “Well I guess it never even occurred to me that they don’t only borrow words from English. The German word for ‘work’ is ‘arbeit’.” He just slapped his own forehead and fell over backwards. 🤣

  People notice (and make a big deal about) when you complain about the handful of things you complain about. They don’t see how you spend most of your time trying very hard to not complain and to project a positive outlook while every square inch of your personage is stiff, sore, and feels totally disgusting every minute of every day for days and weeks at a time.

  Each year on Sept. 11, the podcast What Was That Like? talks to 9/11 survivors and releases a heartfelt, important commemorative episode. I wasn’t a “survivor,” just a helpless 19-year-old witness, but host Scott asked me to record my story for the Listener Story at the end of the episode. I recommend listening to their past years’ 9/11 episodes, if you have the emotional spoons.   I am at the first and last high school football game of my life (which I am only attending because they’re planning to honour my son for some kind of an academic achievement and I want to record it so his dad can see) and I only have one frame of reference for a scene like this.   I’m substituting for a 12th-grade ELA class and they’re reading about the life of Louisa May Alcott. I read the handout and was intrigued so I googled her and this was one of the first things to come up.   Omg omg omg you guys. Y’all. Look at what I found underneath the shop buildings when I got to my shop this morning. Then, as I was getting him out from under the building, these two angels came flying down the sidewalk and said they were vet techs and they had dewormer & 24-hr flea medicine in their car, and they went and got it and gave it to him and said they’d come back with some NexGuard before four! 🤯 #KittenPosting #Kitten #BlackCat

  Sent my 17y/o son this text. This kid busts his butt, makes great grades, is frequently helpful, has a good attitude 95% of the time, is rarely the least bit disrespectful. He’s paying for his car insurance and paying me back month by month for the car itself. The way I see it, if all that is true then it’s not right for every $ you make at work to go ONLY to your expenses and you don’t get to save any money or have any discretionary spending that month. See…I just want that for *everyone*.
