Wicklow hotel cancels ‘secretive’ Peter Thiel group conference
Thiel was a cofounder of payments group PayPal and Palantir, a defence contractor known for mass surveillance and criticised heavily for its “strategic partnership” with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in its assault on Gaza. A leaked schedule for the “retreat” hosted by Dialog, an invitation-only group cofounded 20 years ago by Thiel and entrepreneur Auren Hoffman, featured discussions on topics including preparations for a third world war, battlefield technologies, nuclear energy and cult-...

Yes but giving up profits is not what a company does… And you say forgive, as if they are your friend or something. Its a corporation. They don’t give a fuck about you as a person. Almost all corporations doesn’t. There are exceptions. Kagi, the search engine, will give your monthly subscription money back if you didn’t search during the month. How cool is that. That’s someone who actually wants to provide a product users are happy with.

I used to work in tech and I think it’s very draining these days, with AI and the constant pressure to deliver more and more. Could be why people are “sick”, they just can’t work on level all the time, even being young.

Yeah and the wars are created by America many times, because its huge profits for the military industrial complex and also serves as a way to increase the American presence in countries with resources like oil.

Doesnt have anything to do with fighting with ourselves. America has never invested money in its own population and environment. :)

I had an icq number in the 184000 range. :) Bragging rights! Every time this topic comes up, I feel very nostalgic. Of course the tech was not as good, but the internet was free of big tech.

There are Ai clips now on YouTube where they replace actors in famous movies, like putting Tom Cruise in the matrix or whatever. I dont watch them because I dont want my nice memories of these movies to be overwritten, but it shows how easy it is today to do.

Starting with Firefox 148, which rolls out on Feb. 24, you’ll find a new AI controls section within the desktop browser settings. It provides a single place to block current and future generative AI features in Firefox. They actually listened to the community, thats very nice.

Software engineers at Microsoft are now expected to use both Claude Code and GitHub Copilot and give feedback comparing the two, I’m told. Microsoft sells GitHub Copilot as its AI coding tool of choice to its customers, but if these broad internal pilot programs are successful, then it’s possible the company could even eventually sell Claude Code directly to its cloud customers. Guys? Are we going to have to rename Microsoft products from Copilot to Claude soon? Microsoft Claude 365?

Yeah thanks for that. I dont put that much work into any comment. Impressive! My opinion is that the US government is in bed with the tech industry and their wet dream together is to watch and control the entire population, on the internet as well as in real life. Thats why I dont think this is about protecting children. Its just how they get to their end goal of authentication on the internet for everyone. Step one is stuff like this, require id to verify your age.

I disagree, but thanks for your opinion anyway. :) You just still have belief in the US government being good and want to protect kids. Thats nice.
