@trademark@fosstodon.org @HalvarFlake@mastodon.social In the context of very large projects, e.g. Pyramids and the Empire State Building, those tools already have to exist. Maybe getting them done faster speeds up initial scaling for a project. Once a project's big enough, though, you have to revise, re-revise, re-re-revise, etc., these systems too. You have to understand what they're doing and what their real requirements are, still. So my guess is that LLMs don't help the biggest software projects get that much bigger.

    @trademark@fosstodon.org @HalvarFlake@mastodon.social Some ways I would be wrong: - If the ai-2027 crowd is right, humans won't have to understand the software. This is an argument for (at least) localized superintelligence, basically. - If the LLM can construct abstraction layers so well designed and reliable that devs don't have to understand them, (like the OS usually is for applications), humans can spend their time on other things. But, I suspect this is basically superintelligence too.
