Gets harder to scare people about invented villains when the real ones keep murdering people in broad daylight while stealing our healthcare and starving our children.

This has been the lesson we've tried teaching since 2016: authoritarians give an origin story for people's pain, a scapegoat to shame and blame, thus casting themselves as "strong man" solution to take care of "threat." You can't replace something w nothing. You have to tell true tale of villains.
