The other neat thing about this compared to a 2D mechanical TV is that the view window is much larger. With a single light source there can be only one hole illuminated at a time, so with 36 lines you can only have a window 10 degrees across. This doesn't have that restriction - it can have multiple holes in front of the panel simultaneously as long as it's rendering a separate view to each hole's local region. In fact, the plan is to add more panels and make it fully 360.
