Mississippi attorney general rules fatal police shooting of one-year-old as ‘justified’ In what world is shooting at a car with a child inside (or even without) justified over a shoplifting? The police drew their weapons. Wiley lifted the baby up to indicate that there was a child in the car. An officer, identified by other records as Sgt Hunter Foster, fired into the vehicle, killing Kohen Wiley and wounding Ferrell. Foster is white; both Wileys and Ferrell are Black. The Mississippi bureau of investigation, which investigated the shooting, alleged that the driver “drove in the direction of the officers, almost striking one”. But the civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is representing the family, released an independent autopsy that indicated Wiley was shot from the side of the car, not the front, which contradicted officers’ statements that Ferrell headed towards them. “A one-year-old was shot and killed by an officer of this department, and nearly three months later his family still has not been allowed to see the footage”

Everyone thinking this fairly represents every single person in the US is just as ignorant as this AG. Some of you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. This rise in authoritarianism is bankrolled by billionaires, facilitated by CEOs of major corporations, endorsed by media moguls, and being carried out by GOP politicians; altogether representing maybe 1K - 10K people (depending on how you want to count it), all of whom live dramatically different lives than the three hundred million ordinary people who live here. The 30% of Americans who are stupid rural poor who vote for it are victims of propaganda and disinformation and the rest of us are doing the best we can. If you hate all of us because of what a comparative handful of parasites are doing, congratulations, you’ve fallen for their divisionist propaganda. Do you hate all Chines people because of Xi Xinping? Do you hate all Russian people because of Putin? Congratulations, you’ve fallen for their divisionist propaganda. She didn’t even shoplift the diapers. A while woman thought she was, and called the cops. The kid wasn’t shot by accident as the officer fired indiscriminately into the car. His mother held him up, to show the cop pointing a gun at the car, that he was there. The cop shot a baby that was being held up, like the baby was a clay pigeon.
