shit, imagine a world in which Americans didnt stop making their own clothes at home and at school. imagine a world like that today. am also feeling a way because when i went for my cancer checkup, i made it a point to wear clothes i made. after mami, then my brother died, it took me a long time to pick up myself and do that #sewing thing. then the pandemic happened. and #LongCOVID and breast #cancer. so it was FINALLY about a year ago i could finally DO. THAT. THING…

mind you, it doesn’t mean i wasn’t sewing. during chemo, i was so determined to do something even though i felt so weak, i sewed a whole tunic by hand. yes, i raw-dogged a whole garment like i was some Edwardian seamstress in the downstairs quarters. but i got it done 😁 but didn't even get to wear it whilst in therapy because, while most people lose weight during chemo, i put it on. so i had a few clothes i’d wear those 2 years. one pair of jeans, my patches jeans became even a joke…

@blogdiva@mastodon.social I've made most of my clothes for a long time, because i am so tired of everything having polyester or spandex or some kind of plastic in it, and knowing that every time I do the laundry, I'm putting more plastic micro particles in the water. It's rea=ally hard to find things that are all cotton, linen, wool, etc. and they're more expensive-- and even if you find them, they may not fit or be anything you'd want.
