#WordWeavers Aug 24: Which chapter or scene took the longest to get right?
I'm positive it's not "right" yet — let's face it, I'm halfway through my first draft, nearly everything is going to get completely redone. But how about, the one that took me longest from starting to "okay, that's done enough to call 'done' for first draft purposes"?
That looks like ch.5, sc.9. It's over 7,000 words (and ch.5 in total is nearly 39,000, yes, I know, I really need to... 1/3

...bring this mess under control!), and it does a whole lot: It introduces the concept of these magical races that my city wizards do; it actually depicts an entire race; it also introduces a whole ton of characters (not just the racers but also a bunch of people who have turned out to watch and cheer them on); then there's a whole after-party, which includes a little political stuff. 2/3 #WordWeavers
