In 2025 the permanent dome sealing off the reactor was struck by a Russian drone. While it’s structurally still sound it is no longer sealed. Moisture is building up inside from rainwater, and now they have to worry about that moisture corroding the building from the inside. Over 100 billion dollars has been put forward to repair the structure, but it will probably take longer than the construction time of the structure to reseal it.
