@Tatjna@moo.nz It's not just any hoe, it's a Ukrainian brand 😊 and wheel hoes increase a single humans' productivity dramatically vs a traditional hoe. Though I would rather do low/no dig mainly, and might find there are better ways to cultivate, this is what my brain chose, and I kindof laughed too in hindsight!
Got into oats after a Workaway in Tasmania where the family pretty much subsisted on oats, though they didn't grow them. I started looking into them and they do seen to be one of the easiest grains to grow in a wide range of climates, and fortunately I do like them.
I had a couple of barley plants volunteer last year in my vege garden (probably from straw mulch) and I was impressed how robust it was, and saved the grains from that so plan to grow a small amount of barley too for funsies.

@Tatjna@moo.nz oh, and my neighbour panic bought giant boxes of cereal in March, so not so different really (I just looked longer term) and I expect many people were thinking "oh shit, this is going to be Covid all over again".

@kudra@aus.social Barley is a crop that's grown around here so might be a good alternative option for us in terms of climate. Also - beer!
