It never even occured to me to hibernate and then switching OS. I just use a command to reboot and tell grub to preselect the other OS and go do something else for 60 seconds while it reboots. It’s true that sometimes the grub config gets messed up, but in two years doing this, I’ve had to reinstall grub once (twice if you count me changing distros).
