It's "Odd Duck" Season on our pond -- the time of year when migratory waterfowl use the waters neighboring our house for rest and refueling. Our first guest this year, spotted today, is a male Lesser Scaub. This is actually a photo I shot here on April 1, 2024. Same bird? I don't know. I hope to have opportunities to make some new photos in the next day or so -- sunny tomorrow -- and we'll see if any duck friends show up. And yes, its bill is a delightful shade of blue!
