Kētak flowers Concept Art Some early concept art for some of the plantlife that's going to feature in Voidstar eventually. I always find it easier to start with 3D for plant concepts specifically. These 3 are all flower variations that can grow on the Kētak plant depending on environmental conditions. These plants are culturally important to The Kepek (the main alien species of the comic) and each flower, as well at the leaves and branches of the plant itself, are closely associated with the 4 traditional Kepeki genders. The orange Itek Flower is tied to femininity and womanhood, the green ranak flower is associated with masculinity and men, the teal Bāxek flower is linked to the kepeki "braxi" gender and the leaves of the plant are associated with the Kepek's "xeni" gender. They're often used as symbols for genders in kepeki pop-culture and the queer community in particular often use them as visual a metaphor for gender expressions and identities outside of the traditional ones (e.g. someone that, in western human societies, would be nonbinary might use a combination of different flowers, with mis-matched shapes and colours as a way to illustrate how their gender feels to them). #worldbuilding #alien #scifi #flower #Blender
