And it represents one of the grand misunderstandings of the lay public - when will the flashing "We have arrived!" sign light up signifying climate change is here. This is a multi generational problem with heterogeneous spatial and temporal scales. It is very hard to discuss this aspect of climate change when people seem to think it will be Lima a cold front, or The Day After Tomorrow. So, in my opinion, using models to find out the locations and timescales of the sentinels of tipping points is of essential importance right now.
