We've lost quite simply a legend in Antarctic science both in Aotearoa and internationally.
Peter Barrett left us over the weekend - and in keeping with his way of doing things - left us with a list of tasks and challenges.

and I'm not kidding about the tasks... just a couple of months back he asked me to take over handling the NZ applications to the #TransAntarcticAssociation - https://www.transantarctic.org.uk/about-the-trans-antarctic-association It's a great story - fund raising for the Fuchs-Hillary Expedition was so successful they still are paying small grants to help advance Antarctic research!
