The FCC is not a fit authority to authorise anything in space except RF with Geostationary satellites assigned to USA slots.
They have no authority to authorise LEO or MEO communications satellites.

@raymaccarthy@mastodon.ie That is strictly true. Yet FCC makes decisions about licensing based on, e.g., disposal at end of mission to avoid generating space debris. It has no statutory authority to do so. At the same time, it claims to be categorically exempt from applying environmental impact assessments required by statute. All of this is made up without a strong legal basis.
