This reinforces something that has long been known: on-demand food delivery as currently constituted can only survive by screwing “employees” and restaurants.
The restaurant business already has razor-thin margins, and it’s logistically impossible for a driver to make enough deliveries in an hour to cover costs.
Only a system that batched up deliveries to a certain area and delivers them all at one time works financially, which of course negates the whole convenience angle.
The money people involved know this, they’re just trying to run the scam long enough to extract maximum money and dump the problem on someone else.
