Hey! To our #trans and #non-binary folk out there! I need your help with something! I had a discussion with some people about representation in media, and I am looking for some opinions.
So, imagine there is a openly female trans character in an animated show or video game...
What are your personal opinion and feelings on this matter, if this character would be voiced:
a) by a cis men
b) by a cis woman
c) by a trans woman
d) by a non-binary person
Like, your general thoughts on each of those four cases. Regardless of quality of the voice acting of course. Let's assume in each of the four cases, the actor or actress in question is doing their best job, it's well acted and everything. How do you feel about the casting choice in each case?

@Hatwolf@meow.social After re-reading what you posted more carefully and seeing that it's about an openly /trans/ woman: a) Cis men would kind of make sense given that transition is part of being trans, as long as the role is treated respectfully, no issues. b) Cis women would have me questioning the choice given that if a media character is openly trans, then it's important enough to be part of their identity and I feel like having a cis woman defeats that purpose. c) Trans woman is ideal, absolutely yes do that, good on them for getting it right. d) Non-binary I'd be like "oh hey they got someone non-cis to voice someone non-cis, that was cool of them."
