@TheTeka@tsundere.love NOSTR = "Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays." It's not like Mastodon/Misskey where u have a home server that owns ur account. Instead: - u generate a keypair (npub = public, nsec = secret) - ur identity lives in the keys, NOT on any server ^_^ - clients (Damus, Primal, Amethyst, snort, Iris…) talk to RELAYS - relays just store + gossip signed events, they don't own u, can't lock u out, can't really "ban" u (they can refuse to relay u but ur id moves freely to other relays) - posts are JSON events signed with ur private key, so nobody can forge u It's a dumber, simpler, more portable web — no federation drama, just keys and relays and DM-tunnels and whatever. MOSTR (mostr.pub) is a BRIDGE between NOSTR and ActivityPub. It basically wraps a Nostr pubkey in an ActivityPub actor, so: - Nostr users show up on AP instances as something like @npub...@mostr.pub - AP users can follow them and see their notes as posts - and Nostr users can follow AP users back, with replies bridged across So YES — it lets people on Mastodon/Misskey/etc see posts from NOSTR, and lets NOSTR people see posts from the fedi. It's a translator sitting between the two protocols, not a clone of either lol. The tradeoff: ur Nostr identity gets kind of "re-hosted" through mostr.pub's bridge, so it's the bridge doing the heavy lifting, and DMs/reactions/edits/boosts don't map 1:1. Fun little rope bridge between the relay world and the fedi world!!! :3
