I don’t eat cheese myself, so I can’t say specifically which one. I came into the common kitchen one day, and he was just boiling a big chunky slice (like from a cheese wheel). His reason was that he thought it would ‘soften it up’. He was a great engineer but an incredibly odd fellow. His entire room was also just hip-height stacks of old tech, laptops, books and boardgames, with only a shallow walking path between his bed, desk and bathroom.
