I have a bunch of old `.mbox` files from previous and unused Thunderbird accounts. I'd like to convert these files to individual `.eml` or even better text files so I can archive and search them better as I'm not loading them in Thunderbird anymore. Is there a utility for that somewhere?

@usul@piaille.fr there are multiple utils for this. Mbox is a quite simple format, and eml is almost a universal standard. See for example https://pypi.org/project/mbox2eml/

@usul@piaille.fr I'm going off years-old memories here, but: there are many utilities for this (of which I don't remember the names) but *validate the output* because different tools get different things wrong and/or lack support for different things, and this isn't always made clear explicitly so you may find something just being... missing
