I grew up with parents who loved to cook and grow their own vegetables - I was always cooking with them. When I moved into an engineering dormitory, I was shocked to learn that absolutely no ~20 y/o around me knew how to cook. Seeing a picture of this plate brought me back - everybody made crap like this.
Also, once I saw a dude trying to boil a whole cheese (his parents were mega-wealthy, and he had never cooked once in his life).

“Boil a whole cheese”!!?? To what end? Like a craft single, a 1 lb block of sharp Tillamook cheddar, a 20 kg wheel of parm?
