Why do I even need to care about connectors or charger reliability. I don't have toi for gas.
Let's just (world wide, I am from Europe), regulate the hell out of charging. A minimal number of connectors, all supported at every legit charger, if you want to sell gas, you also got to have a number of fast charging points.
And so on.

Unless I'm mistaken, the standards have already shaken out: Europe has type 2 + CCS (and Tesla), China has its own format, and the US has officially standardised the type 1 Tesla. The other types such as Chademo in Europe and type 2 in the US are no longer being sold. Regarding the Tesla chargers at the hotel, you can get Tesla adapters in the US as part of that standardisation drive - so that would have been an option.
