@BrentToderian@mastodon.online I've visited the Hovenring quite by accident. I was surprised that it is kind of on the outskirts of the city in a more car-centric area of development. Such a gorgeous piece of design, I just assumed it would something showcased near the centre of a city.

@dx@social.ridetrans.it @BrentToderian@mastodon.online near the centre of a city I'd expect the bicycles would be given ground level priority and there would be no need for this infrastructure.

@dx@social.ridetrans.it @BrentToderian@mastodon.online There are good valid reasons for roundabouts, they have much going for it. But they are not very urban architecture, they don't work well in city centres. They are very space consuming, not good for walkers. Oslo has some micro-roundabouts and squareabouts. Not too popular or safe. Storo one up for redesign. Roundabouts = suburbs.

  • @dx@social.ridetrans.it @BrentToderian@mastodon.online Some people I rented a bike from who lived a few kilometers from the Hovenring didn't know about it. One thing to know, is that Eindhoven is a car city, as far as the Netherlands go.
