(I just noticed this the other day myself... I have all the tracking turned off and it was still hitting that CDN site).

Like separate VM for WAN and each LAN segment w FOSS router/firewall IDS/IPS Pi Hole etc. Also have Amazon Fire Cube got free that plan to use to test/monitor for that type of phoning home activity.
