Layering my superstitions: I have been driving extra-gently since getting new tires as if that would defeat the strong force that attracts nails and self-tapping screws to new tires.
May as well go full woo-woo with some kind of blessed amulet on the dashboard from our lady of unlimited mileage. Reiki shielding the aura of my car from sharp objects.

When it comes to my bike, it's all physics, no woo-woo. Armored tires, thick tubes. Not gonna win any races unless all the others get holes in their tires.
