@quixoticgeek@social.v.st @philcowans@universeodon.com We just need energy consumption to go down as well, so solar and wind is not just adding, but actually taking over from more problematic sources. That seems like the main challenge right now.

@ahltorp@mastodon.nu @philcowans@universeodon.com take out AI datacentres, and energy is largely going down. Look around you, your light bulbs use a tenth of what they did 20 years ago. Laptops have replaced power hungry desktops. Once heat pumps become even more universal, then energy use will really plummet. We just need people to stop driving, and we'll have made a massive reduction in energy use.
