i dont think i ever gave items to villagers in acnh that they were already wearing, but i gave petri a doctor's coat and she asked if i gave it to her since she was already wearing it and i knew she needed duplicates to always stay her most fashionable self, which is adorable, i would've been insulted crazy style for doing that in the gamecube version.
