I am on the train from Munich to Berlin and I can't stop thinking how wonderful it would be to have a train system in Costa Rica. More traveling without necessarily driving a car

@kamihack Meanwhile Germans keep on complaining about the bad service and delays. Which is true in part. However, sometimes one should appreciate the things one has. A mediocre train system is still much better than a train system that only covers a tiny part of the country. I guess in both countries the car lobby does a great job in slowing down the transition of the transportation system towards sustainability.

@kamihack odd, isn't it? Every person from Costa Rica that has a chance to travel to Europe at some point goes like "trains are wonderful! How come we don't have them in Costa Rica?" Or even "public transport is wonderful! How come ours sucks?!?" Our decision-makers travel to Europe way more often than the vast majority of the population. My guess has always been that they never use public transport of any kind while they are there. They fall back on renting cars, using taxis, and traveling by plane because they have this stupid ingrained notion that "public transport is for poor people."
