@jesseplusplus i have not tried it. I remember installing amazon's app store when it launched years and years ago. but didn't use that for more then a day or two.

@jesseplusplus I use about 4 different app installing "stores" on my Android (its actually running GrapheneOS) and it works great

You can get lots of free and opensource apps via F-Droid. https://f-droid.org/en/

@jesseplusplus most of the apps I have are from f-droid. Most of my German farmer friends have heard of lineageos, grapheneos, and f-droid. If the install and update processes of alt stores and OSes were smoother (not actively worsened by Google), they would be much more popular imo!

@jesseplusplus been running Android since 2010. Been side loading apps pretty much the whole time. More frequently back in the days when custom ROMs were more widespread, but I still run a few on my current phone (pixel 9 pro). Some via F-Droid, others direct apk installs.

@jesseplusplus since a few months neo store https://apt.izzysoft.de/packages/com.machiav3lli.fdroid before that fdroid you only need to download once the store, but you know that i guess.
