The current fascist regime in the United States did not emerge out of nowhere. It had been brewing for decades, even before Kissinger came to power. Even before Nixon, even before Eisenhower. Trump, on his own, could not have brought things to the current situation. That required hundreds of millions of citizens willing to vote for him, fully aware of what his administration would be capable of; it required judges, military officers, industrialists, police, and journalists willing to embark on the fascist escalation. The United States was already fascist long before Trump even dreamed of reaching the Oval Office. The neverending list of coups, terrorist acts, and genocides around the world—perpetrated and financed by Washington—is the most compelling evidence, and yet it is also the most underestimated.
