and i asked mami, would you teach me to sew on the machine… again?
this is my late 40s. my ex-husband left me for a younger, rich woman. so am feeling a way.
and i really wanted to spend time en la isla, with her, by myself. i could go back later with the kids. i thought, i just needed like 3 weeks. i knew i was supposed to get a settlement, i thought, why not go home and be with mami.
and so we talked about #sewing throughout the year, while i waited for that fucking settlement…

by december, on her birthday, my mother was dead. whenever i see a #NASA LOL-related pic, i cannot tell you the RAGE i get to feel all over again related to my mother. my mother was an unschooler before it was cool. i have a box of her papers i cry over every time i read one because she was such an incredible woman with so much potential who did what she could with the little she had. she researched EVERYTHING and OMG never thought my penchant for file systems came from her…
