I haven’t played symphonia yet, but i don’t think i would’ve the time to go through each and every one of it. I heard there’s a gap in series where the quality just wasn’t there, Legendia is one. Its the game that sour my love of Tales series, but Berseria just rekindle that love.
Currently replaying through Abyss, the best in the series IMO. Playing it on 3DS certainly helps with the grind because i don’t have to sit on my couch and i can just close it and do other thing without having to find the save point. The game is REALLY stingy with the money though, that i can agree. Am still 7 hours in, and at some point of the game i run out money for gel, life bottle, and money, it’s infuriating. Some common enemy is so hard hitting that they can wipe the party if you’re not careful, yet the exp and money is just not enough to justify fighting, so i guess that’s why running is part of the game. And then the boss fight, they don’t hold back, and you can actually get softlocked if you don’t prepare and save after a point of no return, games back then is just hardcore. But no point preparing if you only got 6k for both equipment(costing 1.5k to 2.3k each piece, for 4-6 party member) and potion(300 for apple gel, 1k for TP recovery, 1k for life bottle, 1k+ for holy bottle to avoid enemy). On the flip side, i kinda enjoy the challenge? I actually using item given to me instead of just hoarding 99 Elixir until the credit roll in FF, and where i stand also really matter. What really neat about Abyss is if you don’t wanna play it you can just watch the Anime. They made an anime adaptation because of how insanely popular this game is.
I also did Eternia when it comes out, my 3rd favorite Tales(Berseria being 2nd), i really enjoy that one but the balance is also wack, at some part of the game i just use holy bottle to skip all the encounters because it’s just hard. Also a remastered just launched on Steam, might do it after Abyss.
