Today is Transgender Day of Visibility, so let me use that day to tell the world that I&#39;m trans. I haven&#39;t exactly been hiding it but didn&#39;t explicitly make a post about it yet. Anyway, pronouns she/her, and using Maaike as a name but Ayke is also fine. #TdoV #trans #blackthorn #blossom

Unfortunately, posting this on the internet comes with some risk. The current political climate makes it difficult for people like me to exist. It's especially bad in the US and UK, where people with a lot of money have made it their priority to make life for trans people as difficult as possible (I wish I was exaggerating but there really are people who use their wealth and influence to make life hard for people like me). It's not something that will work in the long term - trans people have existed for a long long time and will always exist. But it means I need to be careful. Still, I'm so much more happy now than I was a few years ago. Even if that means I can't go to all the places I could go before. @ayke thank you for all your contributions to the world, Ayke/Maaike! i know how humble you are about your work but TinyGo undoubtedly made possible so many fantastic projects. i believe that posts like this one are important. being open about your personality helps others being open as well and to not feel alone.
