“Nearly 150 people from 23 countries have been at sea for weeks, some of them grieving, all of them frightened, all of them longing for home. Tenerife has been chosen because it has the medical capacity, the infrastructure, and the humanity to help them reach safety.”

Interesting move by WHO head Tedros to address the people of Tenerife directly this way. Always a danger it heightens the perception of the situation being more dangerous than it is. But given all the debates and hype this seems right move to me: When you involve a community you talk to them.

@kakape@mas.to I find the choice of Tenerife curious. It's got a lot of tourists who come and go from all parts of the world. If the virus were to turn out to be easily communicable, a tourist destination would be the perfect spot for it to spread.
