One thing I noticed when reading Project Hail Mary is that a character speaks with a music-based language but music is only treated like another problem to overcome. At no point is anyone like "Wow both our cultures create music we should bond over this shared value." Knowing what I know about Andy Weir now I guess it''s not surprising that he wouldn't make his characters interested in artistic expression.
