Tl;dr: Don’t trust the cloud as the only repository for your work or data!!!
Edit: apparently this story is fake. But the lesson behind it remains. Trusting everything to the cloud is risky. There are many other reasons you could lose access to your data.

@KimSJ ....or anything else. Unfortunately the majority of data in the UK, whether personal, corporate, organisational or government is held on corporate US cloud platforms.

@KimSJ Or, at least, pick one that's end-to-end encrypted like Sync or Mega so they or law enforcement / hackers can't snoop at your stuff. (I use Mega - Sync doesn't have a Linux application yet). https://www.sync.com/secure-cloud-storage/
