The Slack thing and RAM prices are definitely a wakeup call. I'm hearing Synology is doing some anti-consumer things lately, what are the cool kids using for a NAS setup these days

@NicMakesStuff I think all the cool kids build their own NAS. Either based on an old PC or custom parts. Then you just install TrueNAS Scale or Unraid on it. I‘ve built my own TrueNAS setup a few years ago and it’s still running really well.
