not to mention the V/H/S franchise is currently co-owned by a studio based in the united arab emirates, which is a country that has committed some of the worst basic rights violations in history, particularly towards LGBTQ+ folks
imagine living with that while trying to cater to a community that has lots of queer (especially trans) members

and just as a reminder, a24 is not the "indie darling" you think it is. it is just as much of a corpo as the big studios, even if it's smaller in scale independent, by definition of the word, does not mean "not a major studio, network, label, publisher, manager, agency, etc." it means absolutely none of that shit. no one to intrude on your vision it means you are going in with your own funding, your own ideas, your own dreams, and most importantly, complete creative control and freedom over all of it. the entire process should only be handled by you (and any individual collaborators who wanna hop on, obviously)
