Dear Fedi friends. I want to make a short #survey to understand who actively uses #keyservers today. I am interested in understanding the meaning and the value that people attribute to keyservers nowadays, and the shift in perceptions of email #encryption 🔑🔒

@Xeniax@mastodon.ml I uploaded keys to a keyserver almost two decades ago - little high-school me managed to figure out how stuff worked just well enough to get to that point. I put my "gamertag" nickname in the uid field and thought that was pretty radical. I apparently hadn't quite realized that those keys stay up there, publicly, forever, unless you have (and carefully store) a revocation certificate and even then... Not a very proud moment, but luckily it's not been a real issue, I've not had anyone reach out to me expecting to be able to use those keys.
