Sometimes I miss the old Twitter, where I was connected not only with all of you lovely people, but also dozens/hundreds of my colleagues... we even used to have real discussions about work there, once upon a time #academicChatter

@tschfflr Yeah, the peak was back in 2019, where I went to a conference and the room I presented in was completely packed because of the discussions on Twitter. Bluesky might be a better than Mastodon at the moment for academic chatter, but it is so flooded with American and British political commentary (even with keyword muting) that it is hard to see relevant posts anymore. I don't think there is going back to that time, to be honest, as long as the world is an unstable place. Though I think some of the best social media conversations I have had in the past few years has been on Fediscience (make sure to check the live feed!)
