*** UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance - Roundtable *** "AI Foundation: Digital Trust and AI Infrastructure for All". Under this topic, the EDPS Secretary General Leonardo Cervera-Navas also took part in the high-level roundtable at the UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance, bringing together senior decision-makers from industry, government, and standards communities. The @Secretary_General underlined that computing power and data are not solely technical components, but pillars of sovereignty, both national and European. In recent years, some have perceived technological sovereignty as a form of protectionism, but for the EU it is about ensuring that AI and data generated within Europe are converted into real value for its companies and citizens, while being processed in accordance with fundamental values and applicable legislation. "We need to reshape the conversation on AI from the technical towards to a human-centric discussion. Against the concentration of wealth and power, we need to support sovereignty, moral purpose and responsibility" said Leonardo Cervera-Navas.
