@TG_Esq@metalhead.club I wasn't recording much until the 80s rock and pop. But Dad had a Telefunken M24 from before I was born and he used it for music when he ran restaurants and takeaways. It was the first source of music I remember, and was always there throughout my childhood. It was mostly traditional Chinese music, a few covers of western pop. I think Dad had a record player that he used to record the music from, during the 60s.

@Maker_of_Things@cupoftea.social It's interesting how the technology enables the music, and they're both tied up with our memories of childhood and family members. One of my reel to reel memories is from a relative who introduced me to jazz.

@Maker_of_Things@cupoftea.social On Saturday I went to a business that does data transfers (for a family slide conversion job). The reception area was full of old still and film cameras, an old TV, film projectors, etc. And this reel to reel high up on a shelf. I don't know enough about them to know exactly where the tape should be going, but the way it was set up for display made my eyes water.
